End of Lease Checklist

Are you nearing the end of your GM lease and wondering what to do next? We have created a checklist to help make returning your lease vehicle easy.

  1. Check the lease agreement: Review the terms of your lease agreement to make sure you understand what is expected of you when returning the vehicle.
  2. Gather documentation: Make sure you have all of the necessary documentation, such as the lease agreement, proof of insurance, and any other required paperwork.
  3. Clean the vehicle: Make sure the vehicle is clean and free of any personal belongings. You may want to consider having it professionally detailed to ensure it is in the best possible condition.
  4. Inspect the vehicle: Check the vehicle for any damage or excessive wear and tear that may have occurred during the lease period. If there is damage, you may be responsible for paying for repairs. Examples of excess wear and tear include tire wear that exceeds 1/16th of an inch tread depth, dents, scratches, and any other damage that is not considered normal.
  5. Return the vehicle on time: Make sure to return the vehicle by the agreed upon date and time to avoid any additional fees or charges.
  6. Pay any outstanding fees: Make sure to pay any outstanding fees or charges before returning the vehicle, including any late fees or mileage overages.
  7. Return the vehicle to a GM Dealership: If you are not returning your leased vehicle to the original Chevrolet dealership, we suggest call the dealership to set an appointment.
  8. Decide if you would like to purchase your lease, get a new vehicle or return the lease vehicle.
  9. Cancel insurance: Make sure to cancel your insurance once the vehicle is returned.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and hassle-free process when returning a leased GM vehicle.
